Ward 6 Neighoborhood Projects

WARD 6 PROJECTS

We are fortunate to work with amazing partners in Verizon and Art x Love to launch the JCU Neighborhood Project in the Ward 6 neighborhood of Cleveland.

The Social Innovation Fellows, a group of 12 JCU freshman, sophomores, and juniors who receive this mission-based scholarship, launched the following projects:

WALKABILITY ASSESSMENT

Led by Mac Love of Art x Love, this project is a comprehensive evaluation of neighborhood roadways, sidewalks, litter, greenery, structures, visibility, and safety conducted by students and neighborhood stakeholders. Teams walked every street, visited 163 intersections, logged 1,072 single point observations, and came up with 63 ideas for improvement. This includes 1,836 geo-tagged reference photographs! All these data will help guide future neighborhood services and development.

THE VILLAGE ACTIVITY BOOK

In partnership with Art x Love, we developed The Village Activity Book, to give residents of all ages a platform to share their vision for the neighborhood, learn about others, and be the change they want to see. Our hope is that this activity book specific to this amazing neighborhood inspires and activates residents of all ages to provide constructive insights to support and inform future neighborhood initiatives.
